About You
Bloom Animal Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Office Manager to join our Dermatology and General Practice team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community in Livonia, MI.
We're seeking a collaborative leader with a strong veterinary background-ideally an experienced Veterinary Technician who understands the day-to-day operations of a busy animal hospital. The ideal candidate is passionate about patient care, enjoys developing and mentoring teams, and thrives in a hands-on leadership role where they can support both clinical and operational excellence.
As the Veterinary Office Manager, you will partner with the Area Business Manager to ensure the hospital operates efficiently while fostering a positive, team-oriented culture. This role provides day-to-day operational leadership, supports clinical and administrative staff, and helps drive an exceptional experience for patients, clients, and team members. You will assist with recruiting, coaching, performance management, scheduling, and workflow optimization while serving as a trusted resource for the hospital team and doctors.
Leadership & Team Development
Coach, mentor, and develop veterinary support staff to encourage professional growth and clinical excellence.
Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new team members.
Participate in performance evaluations, coaching conversations, and employee development.
Reinforce hospital policies, medical protocols, and operational standards while promoting accountability.
Lead regular staff meetings and communicate operational updates.
Serve as the primary point of contact for support staff and veterinarians, fostering collaboration across the hospital.
Operations & Administration
Process payroll accurately and on time.
Monitor inventory levels, controlled substances, and medical supply ordering.
Ensure OSHA compliance and maintain employee records.
Process invoices, bills, and other financial documents.
Generate operational reports and assist with practice performance tracking.
Support scheduling, workflow efficiency, and daily hospital operations to ensure exceptional patient care and client service.
Hands-On Leadership
This is a working manager position. You'll spend more than half of your scheduled time supporting daily hospital operations alongside your team. The ideal candidate enjoys staying connected to the clinical environment, leading by example, and stepping in wherever needed to support patient care, client service, and hospital success.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a veterinary hospital or specialty practice.
Strong understanding of veterinary hospital operations and workflows.
Demonstrated leadership, coaching, or supervisory experience.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships across veterinary teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and practice management software.
Experience with scheduling, payroll, and timekeeping.
